‘There is no true urbanism in NSW’

The affirmative (Jan McCredie, Peter Smith and Deborah Dearing) and negative (Paul Walter, Bianca Pineda and Rod Simpson) teams battled it out at the first debate of the UDA NSW debate series.

The affirmative argued that the NSW Standard Instrument LEP was the “nail in the coffin” for urbanism in NSW, and coined their definition of urbanism as place + process = outcome.

The Negative team debated that whether urbanism being neither good nor bad - but rather it just ‘is’ and tore apart the affirmative’s argument that was focused on ‘bad urbanism’.

In the end, the audience voted via Slido and the Negative’s argument won them over - with Bianca Pineda being voted the night’s strongest debater. Take a look at the video footage from the debate below.
